Fireworks explode overhead to wrap up the Lahaina town Fourth of July celebration on Tuesday evening. The day was filled with musical performances, a classic car display, food and festivities. Sne Patel, president of the LahainaTown Action Committee, said organizing this year’s event “was a lot easier cause we already had done, I would say, a pre-run last year. We learned a lot of things reopening large events, what to do, what not to do.” Patel said the event typically costs about $65,000 to put on – $45,000 of which is from the fireworks show alone – and that they were able to reach their fundraising goal with a grant of at least $10,000 from the county and the rest from community support. He also was grateful to MPD for providing 19 of the 20 off-duty officer slots needed for the event.
