The most powerful Power Rangers team mysteriously vanished from the show when the Zeo Rangers shifted into Turbo in the 1997 Power Rangers Turbo film.

The Zeo Power Rangers, arguably the most powerful Power Rangers team, mysteriously disappeared from the TV show canon along with the Zeo crystals. After three years and hundreds of episodes, Mighty MorphinPower Rangers was replaced by Power RangersZeo. The marketing campaign leading up to this new Power Rangers show was focused on how the Power Rangers were now "stronger than before," thanks to the mythical Zeo crystals. However, those powers have since disappeared from Power Rangers canon.
During Mighty MorphinPower Rangers season 3, the Power Rangers had to search for the Zeo crystals across different points in time. The Zeo crystals are said to be the strongest source of power in the Power Rangers universe, as they offer a direct gateway to the Morphin Grid. The Zeo Zords were also said to be more powerful than the Power Rangers’ Dino Zords or the Thunder Zords. Still, when Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie (1997) premiered, Power Rangers mysteriously replaced the Zeo powers with the Turbo morphers.
Why The Zeo Rangers Were Replaced By Power Rangers Turbo

The simplest explanation as to what happened to the Zeo powers in Power Rangers is that the franchise was about to adapt another Super Sentai. Power RangersZeo was adapted from Chouriki Sentai Ohranger, whereas Power RangersTurbo borrowed scenes from Gekisou Sentai Carranger. With Power Rangers running out of Ohranger footage, it was time to adapt another Super Sentai. While Mighty Morphin was way too popular for the show to abandon the classic Power Rangers costumes, there was no reason to keep the Zeo suits now that the Ohranger footage had ended. As such, Turbo: A Power RangersMovie served as the transition from one show into the next one.
Power Rangers changing costumes and Zords was nothing new and would continue to happen every year or so. However, the problem with the Zeo/Turbo transition is that the reason why the Power Rangers abandoned the Zeo crystals was never addressed in-universe. Kat, Power Rangers’ second Pink Ranger, briefly tries to morph into Zeo Pink at the beginning of the film. A few minutes later, Zordon presents the Rangers with the Turbo Morphers and the new Zords. The Zeo powers were not mentioned at all, and the Power RangersTurbo show never explained why the Power Rangers move on from their Zeo forms.
What Happened To The Zeo Rangers: Were They Too Strong?

Given how important the Zeo crystals were said to be in Mighty Morphin season 3, plus everything that has been revealed about them in the Power Rangers extended universe, it is difficult to imagine that the Turbo morphers were stronger than the Zeo powers. From an in-universe perspective, there has to be a better explanation for why the Power Rangers "shifted into Turbo." A popular and plausible Power Rangers theory is that the Zeo crystals were too strong, to the point they could become dangerous to the Power Rangers in the long term. The Turbo morphers might have been a more restrictive, less powerful version of the Zeo powers.
The Zeo crystals were extremely powerful, to the point Zordon originally hid in different points of the Power Rangers timeline. After the Machine Empire was defeated, Zordon might have made the call to replace the Zeo crystals with a less dangerous source of power. That said, it is still confusing why the Rangers never used the Zeo crystals again, not even when Dark Spector kidnapped Zordon. Interestingly, Tommy Oliver morphed into Zeo Ranger V Red in both Power RangersWild Force’s “Forever Red” and Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel’s “Dimensions in Danger,” although he has the unique Master Morpher.
